Smuggling Corridors

Contraband moves through Trisurus along routes shaped by the gaps in official oversight -- sensor blind spots, understaffed checkpoints, and the jurisdictional seams between planetary authorities.

The Shadowfell Corridor

Gate Chamber 9 at the Planar Gate Hub connects to the Shadowfell. Official traffic through Chamber 9 is light -- fewer than two hundred authorized transits per year, mostly researchers with Ethics Tribunal clearance. The Planar Guard contingent assigned to Chamber 9 rotates every six months, and in the seventy-two hours between rotations, security drops to automated monitoring only. Runners call this window the Gray Shift. Shadow-silk, unregistered shadow-stuff compounds, and occasionally Shadowfell fauna enter Trisurus during these gaps. The goods move to the Orbital Ring within hours, distributed through cargo shipments tagged as agricultural supplies bound for Station 108.

The Ring Road

The Orbital Ring's 144 stations are connected by transit corridors monitored at hub junctions -- Stations 1, 36, 72, and 108. Between hubs, the corridors pass through stations with minimal security presence. Smugglers use a network of dead drops in maintenance compartments along the less-trafficked arcs, particularly the stretch between Station 89 and Station 108 that locals call the Cold Mile. Cargo stashed in maintenance bays at Station 91 or Station 94 can sit for weeks before collection, because the maintenance crews are automated and the inspection schedule is predictable.

The Verdania Run

Verdania's surface is sixty percent preserved wilderness, monitored by ecological AI but not by law enforcement. Cargo dropped from low orbit into the deep forest canopy can sit undetected for months. Retrieval teams travel on foot along paths that ecological monitoring classifies as normal wildlife movement. The run is slow, expensive, and used exclusively for high-value contraband that cannot risk standard transit corridors -- stolen research data, memory editing equipment, and occasionally people who need to vanish from public record.
